Survival Series Giveaways- Week 1- Ends 11-3-CLOSED

Most people consider college funds, life insurances policies, etc. when they think about planning for a safe future for their children. Our mission as parents includes protecting our young in the event of natural or other disasters… Sandy is a perfect example this week! For the next several weeks, we will be working with Krazy Clippers and featured sponsor, Copy-Kids to explore different ways in which we can be prepared in our homes for unexpected events. The first in our series explores the age-old skill of canning.

Traditionally this would be the time of year when people would can and preserve fresh fruits and vegetables for the winter. If you are new to canning, you can learn more here! Did you know you can save A LOT of money by canning your own fruits and vegetables? It is healthier too! And for those of you who want to give canning a try. We have a special giveaway! We are giving away all of the tools you need to get started!!

I remember when I was growing up, my grandmother would spend weeks canning tomatoes, green beans, peaches, and so many other yummy foods.  I would always watch and help out, but since starting my own family, I have never tried on my own.

  5. my mom has been canning for as long as I can remember- so I grew up with it. My husband and I have had a garden for the past three years and we can alot of tomato sauce, salsa, etc... we freeze our corn (we like it better that way) and the rest of the garden gets eaten fresh. I am so glad I am able to carry on a tradition in our family!! :)

  20. Every summer we would help harvest the vegetables from my grandparents' garden then get it ready to be canned. We did hot pack and cold pack, and also a lot of experiments with my Grandma's help.
